Note from Black Rock Retreat: If your child has an allergy, we need you to tell us, by filling out this form. The information submitted in this form will go directly to their food service department and they will be able to process the information to serve the specific student. This information will be used for food service purposes only.
Parents of students with food allergies are required to fill out the online form and submit it 2 weeks prior to your school’s trip. If the form (which has an automatic date stamp) is not received two weeks prior to your arrival at Black Rock, they cannot make meal accommodations and parents will be required to send their own meals. If this were to happen there will be no food refunds given.

Things to note:

All transportation will be in either bus, shuttle bus, or staff vehicles driven by staff

Please carefully follow the provided packing list linked above.

Medication:
- Medication must be in original containers (RX & non-RX)

NCCS will collect all medication prior to departing school. Please have in bag with your child’s name clearly marked along with detailed instructions for administering

All medication will be stored in the room with the chaperone.
Money:
- ​No money is necessary however if your child would like to purchase something from the gift shop or snack shack they may bring money to do so.
Cell phones:
- No cell phones or electronics are permitted at Black Rock Retreat.

In conjunction with the NCCS technology policy, no cell phones or electronics may accompany students in vehicles.

Please leave all cell phones and electronics at home
Food:
- No outside food, gum, or candy is permitted on the trip

Year 7 Classes

Animals & their Habitats - Students will get up close and personal with the animals in our nature center. They will learn how we care for these creatures but more importantly how they and their habitats are designed with incredible care.

Creek Studies - Immerse your students in the fun of real life exploring. In this class your students will actually get wet, while learning about water and the living things that call it home.
​

Archery - This class is an integration of safety, science, and coordination. Plus, it's a lot of fun!

Ecology - Students will recognize the delicate balance in nature by learning about ecosystems, symbiosis between organisms, and the different roles organisms have in nature.
Year 8 Classes

Consumers - Everyone eats! Discover how energy flows from the sun to your burger on the grill. This hands-on class will have your students dissecting an owl pellet and discovering what is part of the everyday diet of a night hunter.

Wilderness Survival - In this sampler course of outdoor survival skills, students will learn the basics of wilderness survival including shelter building and fire building.

Laser Tag - Have an absolute blast, with a purpose. Laser tag at Black Rock Retreat is not just a fun activity, but a new way to learn how to work as a team.

Team Building (Low Ropes Course) - Does your class work as a team? Do you see leadership potential in some of your students but lack the setting to really bring it out. This course will help your students realize just what they can accomplish. *(Low Ropes and High Ropes also available)
Year 9 Classes

Astronomy - Map out the solar system and travel from the sun all the way to Neptune with your feet firmly planted on the third planet from the sun. Discover the other things you might encounter during your trip and far beyond the reach of our sun’s gravity

Dissection -Get fingertip deep in the incredible workings of an earthworm and grasshopper. *(Frog Dissection also available)

Geo Caching (Scavenger Hunt) - GPS technology can be found everywhere including here at Black Rock. Learn how this navigation system works and use them to find treasures around camp.
